This exhibition is a journey through the eyes of great photographers who, over the last ten years, have participated in the Encuentros Fotográficos de Gijón festival, organised by the Aurora Vigil-Escalera gallery.

They have left their mark with their images, sharing their projects and giving talks and guided tours in a familiar and intimate setting, to foster a culture of photography among all those students who have visited the gallery and all those who continue to support photography every year.

It is important to highlight the work carried out in the art world with this 40th anniversary, although this relationship with photography really dates back to the opening of the new gallery in 2015. That is why the exhibition is called ‘10 years of photography’.

This collective exhibition is a look back at iconic pieces, unique photographs. From Juan Manuel Castro Prieto's gold toned prints to Isabel Muñoz's purest blacks, through to the powerful colours of José María Mellado. We recall the surrealism of Chema Madoz, a pioneer in conceptual photography, the incredible creations of Rosa Muñoz and the sublime constructed spaces of Pablo Genovés. We pay tribute to the emotion of Alejandra Glez's works and Soledad Córdoba's landscapes, as well as Laura Torrado's aesthetic care. We travel with Paula Anta and immerse ourselves in the almost three-dimensional compositions of Dionisio González.
