Irma Álvarez Laviada (Gijón, 1978)
Irma currently lives and works in Marseille.
Laviada is a Fine arts Graduate by the University of Vigo, who currently pursues a PHD under the title “El vacío como despliegue autorreflexivo de la propia obra”.
Exhibitions, participation in art fairs, awards and collections:
Irma has exhibited in numerous galleries at national and international levels including the Gallery Agustina Ferreyra of Puerto Rico or the Round the Corner from Lisbon.
Alvarez-Laviada has participated in a number of contemporary art fairs such as ARCO, Photo Miami, Madrid Foto or CIRCA. And her work has also been featured at the “Muestra de Arte INJUVE”, “Interzonas, II European encounters with art”and also taking in the ‘Muestra UNION FENOSA” for several years.
Laviada has been finalist at competitions such as the international “COMBAT Prize”, or “XXIX Premio Fundación Bancaixa”, “I Premio de Arte Auditorio de Galicia” or the “Certamen nacional de arte gráfico para jóvenes creadores”, among others.
She has been awarded scholarships such as the “Obra social y cultural de Cajastur” for artists, the “Residencia de Estudiantes” in Madrid, or the “Colegio de España en París”, city where she also enjoyed the “Cité des Arts” Scholarship. Additionally in 2012, Irma was awarded the “Real Academia de España en Roma” Scholarchip.
